Summer Melon

A friend of mine has a vegetable/fruit garden plot at work. She is on vacation until a week from next Monday. I have the privilege of taking care of her garden while she away - and I can harvest anything I like!

That's the best part, of course!


Today I got a cantelope, unlike any I've ever seen in the market. It has a smooth skin, and it is ripe when it's still green. If you let it keep ripening to yellow - it's rotten inside! How wierd is that? This melon was a yellow-ish green - It might have been better about 4 days ago. But, it is so very sweet...

Tomorrow I can get a few ears of corn - yum yum yummy. There are a ton of tomatoes, squash, green beans, etc. I think I'm going to like my little chore for a week.

Update: Oooooh, delish! Chilled overnight, I just devoured this most lucious, sweetest melon - ever!
