I find this article "CIA contractor fired over blog post" interesting on many different levels. Go ahead and read it. It's short, and I'll wait for you to come back.
(foot: tap-tap-tap) Oh you're back. Good. That a contractor would get fired for expressing an opinion, on the surface, sounds over the top. But is it wise to throw mud in your employer's face? Color her mud-flinging with the fact that she was working on a classified network which uses collaborative blogging. Why pick that venue? What possible consequence could she have foreseen by her action? It was, at best, a conflict of interest.
People have legitimate (or not) opinions to express. But are you going to preach to the choir, the public, or the ones that hold your purse strings? When the purse strings become puppet strings, perhaps the better course of action would have been to exit her position in the CIA and then express herself liberally to the public - without divulging any information deemed classified, or she would be in violation of the law and subject to penalty or arrest.
