112 Degrees and No AC (But It's a Dry Heat)

Oi vey.

Yesterday the radio said that we had 112 degrees and Accuweather says 111, but who's counting? (The link may only work today, 23 July - it looks back 24hrs.)

We are. Our air conditioner decides to pick the hottest day of the year to kaflooey!

Kandy decided to change the intake air filter yesterday morning. After that, she wandered around the house with a ladder upon which she would climb up and check that each vent was open and angled just right. So we know we had cool air blowing out of the vents at 10:45am, and hot air blowing out of the same vents only five minutes later. At 11:05am yesterday, it was a sizzling 106 degrees outside.

Needless to say, it got mighty unpleasant in the house. I felt ill, irritable, and totally out of sorts. We have ceiling fans, so we tried to suck it up. I failed miserably at sucking it up.

By 4pm, we gathered the kidlets up and got in the car. Ahhhhhhh, blessed cool AC in the car. We decided to drive to the Mall (around 12 miles away). We spent the next two hours there, bought the girls some PJs and me some sockies. Around 6pm or so, it was still over a 100 degrees outside. What to do? Well, it was supper time. We went to Round Robin. That gave us another 90 minutes in a cool space.

What to do?

We decided to go home. It was at a 100 degrees, and slowing falling. By 10pm it was 95, by our digi-thermomenter, whose sensor is outside on the deck.

Today is going to be another hot one. I can't wait...

Update: We finally got our A/C fixed - after the heat wave broke, of course. But our good friends allowed us to sleep at their house while the heat was on and we were boiling. If it wasn't for them, I'm not sure what we would have done! Thanks Paula and Tim!!!
