Hey, it's a 3-day weekend, we're allowed a little fun, right? We went to San Francisco Pier 39 yesterday! Turns out that if we'd gone Saturday, we would have run into a You Tube gathering. Rats! Our bad timing!
So we got a bit of a late start, and didn't actually get there until about 11 or 11:30am. When we finally made our way to the Embarcadero, there were hundreds of cops! Uh-oh. We must have blundered into something. As it turns out, there was some kind of cycle race about to commence. We didn't actually know this until we tried to leave the City in the evening and the Embarcadero had been closed off and all vehicles were herded through the Financial District. Talk about a painful trek to the freeway.
But enough of that. It was gorgeous!! Flowers were blooming, the sky was azure blue, it wasn't cold or warm - just right. Who could ask more of a mid-February day??????
Look at these beautiful flowers. Megan and Katie are on the right. We went to the Aquarium where the girls got to pet skates and bat rays.
After that we went to the Rainforest Cafe where I tried a "Natural Burger," which is their name for a veggie burger. I am trying to avoid some foods, and it was quite difficult to do given their menu, so I thought this might be a good alternative - Blech! I was hoping that it might be prepared better - after all we were in San Francisco. I guess there's only so much you can do for one of those burgers. Ah well.
Even Alcatraz looked pretty good across the water:
Note the boat pulled up along side of the island (on the right - click the picture for a much better view). That's the Alcatraz tour boat. It's been a long, long time since the island looked so clear from the piers!
So, that was our day. How was yours?
