The fire started at the west end of a pasture, and the wind blew it toward the east end of the pasture near a neighborhood known as Broadmoor.
We live about 2 blocks south of where the fire burned - so thankfully we weren't threatened, but many of our friends live along Broadmoor, and that sigh you heard was everyone letting out their breath.
If it wasn't for the helicopter with a water bucket and a plane with retardant, and of course all the firemen, we may well have experienced the tragedy of homes on fire. It gives me shivers just to think that such a thing is possible in our little corner of the world.
