Thinking of Friends...

Many of my friends are busy in their lives... So, I wanted to give a little something to each of them, and I think I am going to do something similar to what a friend in high school used to do.

Martha (yes, that is her name) lived near Tacoma on a sort of peninsula called Dash Point. Her family's home overlooked Commencement Bay. I admired Martha for her artistic skills and musical abilities. I forget how we became friends, we went to vastly different highschools, she in downtown Tacoma, me in rural/suburban Lakewood in the late 60's and early 70's.

When I would visit her, we'd take walks along the sand and pebbled shore of the bay. I think there was a tile factory somewhere on Puget Sound and old, broken tiles would wash up onshore. During our walks we would pick up these worn and broken tiles which she would save. Later, she would clean them up and paint little pictures on them. I still have the one she painted for me, it sits on my desk in my office at work. It's not much, but it always meant a lot to me.

It's a simple thing, but so easy to share. I want to do the same, in some way.
