Megan's second grade teacher assigned the class to write a daily log. This is essentially one kid-page per day on a given topic. While spelling and grammar are noted, it's not the point. The point is for them to practice setting their ideas down on paper in a coherant form. In this way they learn to use: title, indentation, topic sentence, content, concluding sentence.
