Sometimes a song, its lyrics, and the vocalist come together to create something very special. These songs are so special, that I just have to share. The last time I shared a song, it was Sarah McLaughlan's rendition of Joni Mitchell's River.
This time I would like to share a very moving rendition of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah, sung by k.d. Lang. Wow.
Only in my dreams I could sing this song so well.

Music By Internet
Have you ever had a hankering for new music in your life? A friend turned me on to this site. It's called Pandora and you can go to it here. Sign up for a free account, tell it what kind of music you like, and it will create a "station" for you based on artists or songs you already enjoy.
That's where the fun comes in. Somehow they try to keep to the same genre, but sometimes it's a little out there, ya know? So, when something dispicable comes on, you just click the Thumbs Down, and it goes to the next song. Pretty cool. You can add or delete artists as you like. Downright nifty.
I like to listen to instrumentals while I'm working or writing - so I've got a station based on William Ackerman's work, and I've heard some new artists that I don't think I would have ever run across by myself in a thousand years. That's what is so cool. Getting new and wonderful music.

Skate Away On a River
There is just something about Joni Mitchell's music that draws me. A while back I was crushed to learn she had "retired" from recording new music. Crushed. My entire adult life has been lived with Joni Mitchell backgrounds.
So, now I hear that there is an album to be released this Spring, A Tribute to Joni Mitchell. Here's a track list I dredged up from the 'net:
- Sufjan Stevens - ‘Free Man In Paris’
- Bjork - ‘The Boho Dance’
- Caetano Veloso - ‘Dreamland’
- Brad Mehldau - ‘Don’t Interrupt The Sorrow’
- Cassandra Wilson - ‘For The Roses’
- Prince - ‘A Case Of You’
- Sarah McLachlan - ‘Blue’
- Annie Lennox - ‘Ladies Of The Canyon’
- Emmylou Harris - ‘Magdalene Laundries’
- Elvis Costello - ‘Edith And The Kingpin’
- k.d. Lang - ‘Help Me’
- James Taylor - ‘River’
Here's the YouTube recording of Sarah McLaughlan singing Joni Mitchell's River. If you are a Joni Mitchell enthusiast (and even if you're not), I think you'll agree that she does a fine job of it.
