Break Out the Grill!

Don't know about you folks, but we are breaking out the grill, inviting neighbors and friends over for some ribs and and cheer on the Fourth of July. Katie has been cleaning the fountain for that lovely background waterfall noise, Kandy has been spiffing up our blank walls with pictures and I have been going over recipes and ingredients. Megan is cheering everyone on (when she's not screeming and running away from wee spiders). Heh.

Wooooo-heeeeee! It's PARTY TIME!

About a week and a half ago we were over at Caryne and George's house whereby George out-did him self with some baby-back ribs - and he told me how to do them - so it's my turn to return the flavor. Yummmmm. I'm excited.

Hey T, can you bring us some potato salad?

What I like about doing ribs is that you do not really need to tend to them all that much. They just kind of cook themselves, with only a little bit of effort. Then the cook gets to take all the credit. Just ask my Big Brother, Grill King Extraordinairre. Got ten minutes? He'll bend your ear with stories of grilling anything from corn to salmon. Unfortunately, Big Brother won't be here. Maybe next year.

So, what better way to enjoy the Fourth - eat, drink and be merry!

Holidaze

Have you decorated for the Christmas Holidays?

Me neither. Which is pretty much how it always is. Kandy has some of our holiday decorations up year-round. Wanna see a picture? Okay.

This is above our front door. The space is inaccessible, except via a very, very tall ladder. It actually is quite a nice little scene. This picture only shows a portion of it, I'm sorry to say.

But you get the idea, right?

It does kinda grow on you over the intervening eleven months. You hardly notice it at all. At least you don't until someone comes into our home for the first time, turns around and see our little Holiday Scene. Some are at a loss for words. Others revel in the intended light-heartedness of the display. It's interesting to see how people react. Some, probably those like me, won't even notice. We should take bets when folks come a-visiting on how one might react.

So, down come the Autumn/Halloween/Thanksgiving decorations. Out come the (okay I'll say it) Christmas decorations. And lights. And lawn displays.
